Welcome to my mosaic website.
I am a teacher, a gardener and a mosaic artist based in Kent in the UK. I did an art and English degree in what seems to me a former life. I have three artistic children; a potter, a musician and a photographer. Now that they no longer need me I have begun listening to an inner voice which urges me towards creativity. I have made greetings cards for eons and dabbled in textiles but having discovered mosaic 15 years ago I have not looked back. After a few years of completing one piece each school summer holidays I offered to teach some friends the techniques I had learnt. Since then I have had a stream of people sharing my working space. It is the most wonderful excuse to buy more glass! I get enormous satisfaction helping people uncover the artist within themselves.
I am drawn to the rich vibrant colours and the myriad of textures that is mosaic. I love the shapes and the variety of materials. I enjoy every part of the process from the vision of the original concept that inspires the design to the carpentry involved in framing the piece.
I enjoy creating abstract designs as well as ‘pictures’. I use ceramic tiles as well as glass and enjoy incorporating stones, beads and shells as well as fused glass pieces.
Since 2018 I have a newly converted studio and teaching space.
